The Animal Sound Archive has been transferred into a completely digital collection.
Now you can listen to more than 40 000 recordings by searching our database.

On the base of the recordings of the animal sound archive we are recently creating an overview on most common European bird species as a Reference system for animal sounds.

The Animal Sound Archive is open for scientist of all disciplines. The information on the recordings is freely available from our webbased data base. The recordings are being used for a wide range of applications.

About the Animal Sound Archive

The Animal Sound Archive at the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin is one of the oldest and largest collections of animal sounds. Presently, the collection consists of about 120,000 bioacoustical recordings comprising almost all groups of animals.
